GSoC 2009

GNOME just got 25 students accepted for GSoC 2009: check them out here.

I’m happy to be one of them, working on RAW for f-spot.

Less pleasant news, it turns out I’ll have to withstand Stephane Delcroix’ terror reign another summer to be his student slave ;-).

    Ruben, this is great news! What exactly will the project involve, some form of UFRaw porting/integration or do you have other ideas? Personally, I’d really like to get DNG support working in f-spot (bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477721 has some details). I can remember looking at the existing thumbnail generation code about a year ago and running away scared. However, if you are thinking of overhauling f-spot’s RAW support completely, I’d be interested in helping out. I have plenty of DNG files that you can test with, at the very least ;)

    @David King

    DNG SDK doesn’t look like it’s GPL compatible.

    Indeed, that’s great news! I don’t have a clue what kind of raw support integration you intend to work on, but given the good job you did up to now I’m just happily looking forward to everything you will do.

    @Alexandre

    Why would you need access to the Adobe DNG SDK if dcraw (available under the GPL2+) handles DNG files?
